Function Room Divider Acoustic Curtains

Sauderfoot Regency Hall Function Room

The Regency Hall, Saundersfoot.  It is one of Saundersfoot’s most imposing and distinctive buildings.  Built-in 2013 following the demolition of the old hall on the same site, it occupies a central village location alongside a large car park with free parking between 5pm and 9am and all day from November to March.

Direct Fabrics were approached to manufacture and install extra large curtains to go across the back of the function room to absorb sound and improve the acoustics of the room. The large drops of 450cm were an issue for companies with smaller working tables. But as direct fabrics has a large workroom it was straight forward to manufacture the curtains.

The width of the wall is 14m and the clients wanted to be able to pull by hand the curtains across the space.

The client chose our textured dimout fabric lined with our blackout fleece lining that adds a beautiful fullness to the curtains makes them look incredible.

Installation

The Direct Fabrics team had to use a tower scaffold to be able to work at a height of 450cm

The curtains look incredible and the client was over the moon with the finish.

Introduction to the Client

A beautiful village hall that is at the heart of the community in the village where Direct Fabrics are located. Direct Fabrics were approached to supply and install flame retardant curtains for the village hall stage. The original stage curtains were old and ripped on an old metal track.  The hall was built in 1910 and the present curtains must be at least 30 years plus old.

Process

After presenting the trustees with a range of samples it was decided to use the acoustic absorption material as the open-plan space was vast and any acoustic benefit would be greatly beneficial to reduce the reverberation around the space.

Also, a new track was chosen that could be installed into the wooden frame around the top of the stage. This allowed for a strong fixing to hold the weight of the lined acoustic curtains.

The pelmet boards were manufactured with a lightweight essex board and velcro attached to the top of the stage to allow for easy attaching of the upholstered pelmet.

Conclusion

A stunning pair of the curtain in a decadent teal colour. The finished article looks great and improves the acoustic performance of the space.

Extra Large Electric Curtain Track 14m With Wave Curtain

Direct Fabrics were asked by a domestic customer to manufacture and install made to measure wave curtains to cover their lounge windows. The customer had seen electric curtain tracks and wanted to have one fitted right the way around the open space and if possible with a single stacking curtain.

After speaking with the customer at length we reviewed their requirements it was decided to use a heavy-duty electric curtain track with an 80mm wave curtain heading with a weight tolerance upto 70kg. The wave heading is a static cord that means the gliders are spaced evenly and creates a wave /surge/flow effect. This effect looks incredible and means the curtains once dressed and the pleats have been set will always look incredible.

This is the hotel finish but brought to customers own home.

Finer Details - Specification

The window has 2 bends within the space making a U shape. The wall we at 90 degree bends so Direct Fabrics had a track manufactured to the exact sizes. Sizes are 4m + 6m + 4m. This meant a total span for the curtain track was 14m in length or 1400cm. This is an extra-large curtain by anyone's requirements.

Track Used.

It was decided to use a heavy-duty electric track that comes with a 5 year warranty and can be used with Amazon Alexa or Google Home. or if preferred just operate of a hand remote control.

Curtains

The made to measure curtains were manufactured using a 3 pass blackout fabric called IRIS - one of Direct Fabrics best sellers. This material has a 3 pass coating which means that it can be hung a dressed without a curtain lining and still not let any light through. The 3 pass coating covers the reverse of the material filling in any holes in the weave making it the curtains totally blackout curtains.

Installation

The customer had opted to have the Direct Fabrics team come and install the track and curtain to ensure due to the size that it was professionally fitted. The installation took some time and due to the size Direct Fabrics swapped out the round head glider to use the square shaped to make them glide better around the corner. As due to the serious amount of weight and friction going through the track a square glider will work better.

After installing the rail and testing the curtain was put all the way back to the start position and dressed by a professional. Setting and steaming any pleats to ensure the look lasts for years to come.
