We have in our range the perfect curtain linings for adding fullness to your curtains which will also add more insulation. By adding a blackout curtain lining you can stop any light from entering the room you have the soft furnishings in. The lining will add a significant weight even to the lightest of curtain fabrics. We use a 3 pass blackout curtain lining for all of our curtains made in house as standard as we know that this provides the very best solution for curtains and blinds. In our range we offer

  • Cotton Curtain Linings - These are lightweight and drape beautifully to add a fullness and elegant drape to your curtains
  • Polyester Twill - Another low cost lightweight curtain lining more to help with drape
  • 3 Pass Blackout Curtain Lining - Heavier weight and blackout and thermal.
  • Duo Lining Interlining with Blackout - Bulky and heavy, has a blackout coating attached to interlining to give a super weight and feel
  • Interlining - Used to add fullness and body to curtains, available as shrunk or preshrunk options.

Blackout Curtain Linings

Blackout Curtain Linings, these are curtain linings that stop light from passing into the room or space. They usually have a coating applied to them call a "pass". A 3 pass coated blackout lining is one that has had 3 coats and sealed the reverse of a fabric to make it a blackout. The blackout coating seals the fabric meaning it makes the lining thermal and stops heat from entering and escaping your room. The blackout lining is a great choice if you are looking to keep a space dark and cool in the summer and stops UV from entering the space and heating it up.

Blackout curtain lining meaning total light exclusion, this is ideal for your bedrooms and spaces where you do not want any light seepage in your space

Thermal Curtain Linings

Our range of thermal curtain linings keep a space warm in the winter and keep a room cool in the summer. They do this by have a light coloured reverse and being sealed. This stops light and heat passing into a space. Using our 2 pass coating we get a sealed curtain lining that is both blackout and thermal. This is ideal for bedrooms, cinema rooms and other spaces where you will want complete blackout.

Curtain Lining or Fabric Lining - How to Choose them

Do you want to provide shading into the room or do you want it to be blackout?

If you want a standard shade fabric then you should go for a basic cotton sateen or a polyester weight fabric. As these will assist with the draping and provide a shading improvement but not completely darken the room you are putting blinds or curtains in.

To have a darkened room it is recommended to use a 3 pass blackout curtain lining as this will darken the room to best western standards. So you will not be able to read a paper without an additional light source.

Why Choose Lining Fabric for Curtains

Lining fabric for curtains is a must if your wanting a high-quality finish for your curtains;

  • Increases the fullness of your curtains giving them a more luxurious look and feel
  • Reduces sunlight entering a space either by complete blackout or just shade.
  • Reduce sound entering and escaping your space
  • Thermal benefits, using blackout or interlining will reduce heat entering and escaping your space.

Choosing the best colour for your Curtain Lining Material?

The standard colours for lining include; cream, ivory and white. They are simple and traditionally chosen for curtains and blinds. Each has its merits but we would recommend ivory, as this tones in well with all fabrics and if they were to be touched by dirty hands will not show marks as easily as white.

Coloured Curtain Linings, why would i use them?

When using coloured lining fabrics you can get a real contrast with the front fabric. It will provide depth when the colour tones through the back fabric. It is a very small detail that some customer love. Also, if you are not making a double-sided curtain you will be able to see the lining from the outside of the room or from the room divider. It is a cheaper option than double siding a curtain and will enhance your soft furnishings for a small expense.
