Expectation setting: Light control is determined by the base cloth selected. Satin and panama are not blackout. If blackout performance is required, select the blackout base cloth.
Printed flame retardant fabrics with satin, panama or blackout base cloth
Mendip Hills is a printed flame retardant fabric collection developed for contract curtain and soft furnishing projects. The range combines contemporary pattern options with base cloth choices to support different performance needs on site.
Satin base cloth is a smooth, tightly woven fabric that gives a flatter print finish and is often selected for environments where curtains need to look clean and remain easy to maintain. The satin base cloth can be washed at 71°C for thermal disinfection.
Panama base cloth provides an alternative handle and appearance compared with satin, while keeping the same printed design options for contract curtain manufacture.
Blackout base cloth is specified when the project requires printed blackout curtain fabric rather than relying on separate blackout lining.
All three base cloth options are supplied as flame retardant fabric to BS5867. Washing instructions and any certification documentation are available in the product specification tab.

Base cloth selection note
Where the curtain specification includes a lining, the maximum wash temperature must not exceed the lining limit. Confirm laundering requirements and lining choice before manufacture for specification-critical projects.

Mendip Hills is typically specified for contract curtains and coordinating soft furnishings where flame retardancy and pattern choice are required.
Common applications include hospitality (guest rooms and public areas), healthcare environments such as care homes, and education settings where curtains are expected to meet a BS5867 specification.
Choose satin or panama for standard decorative curtain use, and select the blackout base cloth where room darkening is a required outcome.
