Lining options for hotel curtains
The lining affects blackout performance, thermal insulation, drape quality, and compliance. Choose based on your room requirements.
Unlined
Lowest cost. Suitable where the fabric itself is dimout or blackout. FR fabric certification still applies.
Best for: budget guest rooms, voile layers
Polyester FR lining
Inherently FR, washable to 50 cycles. Adds fullness and improves drape. Certified to BS5867.
Best for: standard guest rooms
3-pass blackout lining
Full blackout — 100% light elimination. Thermal benefit. Certified to BS5867 Part 2B, washable to 10 cycles. Direct Fabrics' recommended choice for hotel bedrooms.

Duo fleece blackout
Heavy interlined option with 3-pass blackout attached. Maximum thermal and acoustic performance. Premium finish for high-spec suites.

Yes. Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, hotel operators are legally responsible for ensuring soft furnishings meet the required British Standards. Curtains in UK hotels must be certified to BS5867 Part 2 — Part 2B for standard spaces and Part 2C for higher-risk areas such as corridors and public areas. Failure to comply can result in enforcement action and may invalidate insurance.
What is the difference between BS5867 Part 2B and Part 2C? ⌄
Part 2B covers standard commercial environments including hotel guest rooms. Part 2C is a more stringent test required for higher-risk spaces — corridors, public lounges, function rooms, and areas with restricted means of escape. Both are supplied and documented by Direct Fabrics.

Our 3-pass blackout lining is the standard recommendation for hotel bedrooms — it delivers 100% light elimination, a thermal benefit, and certifies to BS5867 Part 2B. For premium suites where acoustic performance is also required, the duo fleece blackout lining provides maximum weight and insulation.
How quickly can hotel curtains be manufactured and delivered? ⌄

Do you provide compliance certificates with orders? ⌄
Yes. Test certificates for BS5867 compliance are available on request for all fabrics. These are suitable for fire risk assessment files, insurance requirements, and local authority inspections.

Yes. We supply a full range of contract curtain tracks including corded, hand drawn, and electric options. For large hotel refurbishments, we can supply curtains and tracks together, sized and specified for each room.
