Will my room be totally blackout with a blackout fabric?

What are my Curtain Lining Options?

Curtain Linings We offer a range of linings for your curtains, suitable for various applications. Each lining type serves a specific purpose, ensuring the best results for your needs. Choosing the Right Lining Domestic or Hotel Curtains: Blackout lining to block light and darken rooms. Hospital or Salon Cubicle Curtains: Unlined with dimout material to reduce light naturally. Room Dividers: Acoustic bonded blackout lining to reduce sound transfer, provide blackout, and offer thermal insulation. All linings from Direct Fabrics are flame-retardant and certified to BS5867 for commercial use. Curtain Lining Range Unlined Curtains Unlined curtains are a cost-effective option. If the fabric is dimout or blackout, it can provide up to 90% dimout or 100% blackout. The track location affects the light filtering. Polyester Light Weight Lining This low-cost flame-retardant lining enhances fullness and drape. It can be washed up to 50 times and adds a luxurious feel to dimout and blackout fabrics. Blackout Curtain Lining 3-pass blackout lining ensures 100% blackout. It is certified to BS5867 Part2B and can be washed 10 times. This lining enhances thermal insulation and draping. Are my products certified for use in a public place?

We have chosen our fabrics because they are certified to British Standards for flame retardant products. These are all certified for use in public spaces in the UK. Obviously it is worth speaking with your fire officer in case you think they may require special product requirements. But our flame retardant curtain fabrics are certified to BS5867 Part 2B or 2C, Bedding to BS7175 and our upholstery to BS5852.

Expectation setting: This range is a blackout curtain with a 3-pass coated backing. As with all blackout installations, light can still enter around the edges depending on track/pole position, wall returns and fitting details. Curtains are supplied unlined as standard because the base cloth is already blackout coated.

Notice: This fabric already has a blackout thermal coating, so it does not need to be lined for blackout. If you do add a lining, it will increase body and can help the curtains drape fuller.

Top tip: Curtains lined with our blackout lining are stated as thermally certified to reduce heat loss by 30% over a double-glazed window (see lining/spec information in the spec tab).

In our UK based workrooms we continue the traditions of master curtain makers and offer the very best curtains that are British Made Specification

Our curtains are manufactured with various fullness's to suit our customer's requirements. For standard made to measure curtains, they are manufactured with 2x fullness also known as 100% fullness. This means that you get beautifully pleated curtains

When manufacturing curtains we join widths of the curtain material to get the required width to cover your curtain track. Example a track width of 140cm in a single curtain would have circa 2 widths of material in assuming the material is 140cm wide. Widths are rounded up to the nearest full width. This means there will be a joining seam in larger curtains.

Our curtains are delivered pulled and hooked. So the curtains are pleated to your track widths and folded neatly for delivery. The hooks have been inserted so all you have to do is clip them into your track or pole.

All lining options from Direct Fabrics are flame retardant certified to BS5867 and can be used in commercial environments.

Unlined Curtains are a good option if you are looking for a low cost option. If the fabric is dimout or blackout it will provide you with a good amount of shading for the rooms with these curtains, dimout will be 90%+ and blackout with a 3 pass coating will be 100% blackout. Obviously depending where the track is located it will depend how much light will come through.

Standard polyester fr lining is a low cost option that provides extra fullness and helps your curtains drape better. The Polyester lining can be washed at 50 times and is inherently flame retardant. It will provide additional shade on standard fabrics and on dimout and blackout fabrics it is used to add a more luxurious feel.

3 Pass blackout lining is Direct Fabrics choice for all curtains as it makes a room have no light come through the curtain. Certified to BS5867 Part2B so can be washed 10 times. The 3 pass coating is very hard wearing and provides a thermal benefit aswell as making your curtain drape better./p>

Duo Blackout Lining Fleece Flame Retardant Lining Ivory

Duo Lining Fleece Blackout Lining , a very heavy weight full lining that is an interlined option with the 3 pass blackout lining attached. The Duo lining is an excellent acoustical absorber of sound and will improve room acoustics.

This fabric is coated with a 3pass blackout coating. This means it has been sealed 3 times and to ensure that the material is totally blackout. The coating is an off white coating which reflects heat out of a window when the curtains are drawn. The 3 pass coating also adds thermal benefits with a heat retention when used over a double glazed window of 30%. Therefore your rooms will be cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

The Curtains came really well packed, all pleated including hooks and ready to hang, which was a nice surprise. Even though the fabric is budget, flame retardant and blackout it is lovely. I was a little worried that the fabric would be a bit thick and the pleated heading wouldn't look good! It is always difficult buying fabric online from a picture! it's not as if you can feel it. I needn't have worried, they are just perfect for our meeting room at the village Hall They still have a few creases in them but I am sure these will drop out shortly. They have had lots of compliments. I only gave the 4 stars as I had no notification from Direct Fabrics that my order had been despatched and the delivery agent tried to deliver them to the wrong address but that was because they didn't read the label properly
