What is Curtain Fullness & What Fullness will my Curtains be?

What does curtain fullness mean and how much do I need? Curtain fullness refers to how much fabric is used compared to the width of your curtain track or pole. More fullness creates deeper pleats and a more luxurious finish when the curtains are closed. At Direct Fabrics we manufacture most made to measure curtains as standard using 2x the track width , also known as double fullness . This is the industry standard for pencil pleat and eyelet curtains, and means you do not need to calculate or choose fullness unless you want something different. We automatically allow for the correct amount of fabric and round up widths where needed to ensure the best finish. Certain heading styles, such as pinch pleat or wave, require more fabric due to how the pleats are formed, and are handled automatically based on the heading you select. For a visual explanation, examples and guidance on how fullness affects the appearance of your curtains, see our full guide on Understanding Curtain Fullness .

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about corded tracks, operation, and suitability for heavy curtains and bay windows.

What is a heavy-duty corded curtain track?

A heavy-duty corded curtain track is built to support substantial curtain weights (up to 40kg) using strong aluminium and a cord-operated system for smooth opening and closing. It is commonly used in commercial venues and large domestic windows where reliable operation is required.

Why choose a corded track over hand-drawn?

Cord operation reduces wear on curtain headings, keeps curtains cleaner (less hand contact), and makes it easier to control heavy curtains and higher-level installations. This is particularly useful in theatres, schools and hotels.

Can this track be used in bay windows?

Yes. We offer professional bending to suit most bay configurations while maintaining full strength and smooth cord operation. Provide your bay measurements at checkout or contact us for assistance.

Curtain rails well protected and delivered within the 3-5 days Having spent several hundred pounds, would have expected the curtain rails to have been supplied with raw plugs and fixing screws. The two end brackets have fixed hole positions, would be helpful for alignment adjustment if these were slotted particular drilling into masonry

Bespoke curtain track a star buy

Review

100%

Having a bespoke curtain track made was a wise investment that I ought to have made years ago having struggled with cheaper alternatives that never coped with the weight of our curtains. The track is finely made and has been delivered well within the Quoted time. I am no DIY expert but found the fitting simple. A query I had was answered with great kindness and skill by Jane Lovell – thank you Jane. I highly recommend this company.
